Application Engineer (m/w/d)
About Us
Born from the labs of ETH Zurich in 2024, Duatic is developing advanced robotic systems to tackle industrial labor shortages. We engineer mobile, semi humanoid dual arm robots, merging robust hardware with intelligent software. As an early stage startup, we trade bureaucracy for pure ownership. We are looking for ambitious engineers and researchers eager to bridge the gap between leading edge science and real world application. If you want to take ownership and build complex robotics from the ground floor up, join our team.
Role Overview
We are seeking an Application Engineer to bring our robots into the real world, at customer sites. You are the link between our technology and our customers: you understand their operational needs, translate them into concrete technical requirements, and program our robots to solve them. You will set up complete robotic installations on site, calibrate sensors, debug the unexpected, and stay the technical point of contact when things need attention. No two projects look the same. One week you might be commissioning a robot at a logistics facility, the next you are configuring a new application back at the office.
Skills
- Hands-on Mindset: You are comfortable picking up a cable, reading a datasheet, and figuring out why something is not working. You enjoy being close to real hardware and real customers, not just behind a screen.
- Customer Orientation: You can listen to a customer, understand what they actually need, and translate that into something technically concrete. You can explain technical concepts clearly to non technical stakeholders.
- Programming: Basic to solid Python skills for scripting and configuration. Familiarity with the terminal and Linux is a plus.
- Robotics & Automation (Plus): Experience with robotics, automation, ROS 2, sensor calibration, or industrial systems is a strong plus. We also welcome candidates earlier in their career; internships or relevant project work count.
- Travel Readiness: Willingness to travel and work on site with customers, up to 50% depending on the project.
- Mindset: Independent work style with strong initiative and a structured, solution oriented approach. You thrive in ambiguity and enjoy the variety of a startup environment.
- Language: Fluent German (C1/C2) is strictly required for this role to handle customer projects with local industrial partners. Fluent business English is also required for internal communication.
Benefits & Culture
- Build from Scratch: As one of our first Application Engineers, you will be among the first to deploy our robots in real industrial environments. Your work directly shapes how our technology lands with customers and feeds back into the product itself.
- True Ownership & Impact: See your work come to life from day one. As a foundational hire, your work will directly shape our technology and our company.
- Elite, Hands on Team: Work in a fast paced, high performance environment alongside top robotics talent rooted in ETH Zurich research.
- No Red Tape: We are an ambitious, focused team driven by growth and excellence, not bureaucracy.
- Join our team: Based in Zurich (CH) or Esslingen am Neckar (DE). We value in person collaboration, most work is on site, with some hybrid flexibility. Full remote work is not possible.
