Robotics Safety & Certification Engineer (m/w/d)
About Us
Born from the labs of ETH Zurich in 2024, Duatic is developing advanced robotic systems to tackle industrial labor shortages. We engineer mobile, semi humanoid dual arm robots, merging robust hardware with intelligent software. As an early stage startup, we trade bureaucracy for pure ownership. We are looking for ambitious engineers and researchers eager to bridge the gap between leading edge science and real world application. If you want to take ownership and build complex robotics from the ground floor up, join our team.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Robotics Safety & Certification Engineer who sees safety not as a roadblock but as a mark of quality. In this role, you are the architect of our safety concept and own the entire journey from the initial risk assessment (ISO 12100) and FMEAs to final CE marking. You will deeply integrate functional safety into our hardware and software architecture, independently create the technical file, and lead communication with notified bodies. You will ensure compliance with all relevant standards (e.g. ISO 13849, ISO 10218) while maintaining our startup agility.
Skills
- Education & Experience: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar, and professional experience in safety engineering, certification, or risk management, ideally with a focus on robotics or industrial automation.
- Standards Expertise: Deep understanding of relevant directives (e.g. ISO 12100, ISO 13849, ISO 10218, Machinery Directive). You know how to calculate Performance Levels (PL) and compile technical files.
- Documentation & Processes: Experience in creating safety concepts, risk assessments, and guiding conformity assessments.
- Mindset: Analytical thinking and a structured approach. You are an enabler who finds solutions to make complex systems safe.
- Language: Please note: Fluent German (C1/C2) is strictly required for this role to handle certification processes and local authorities. Business fluent English is also required for internal communication.
Benefits & Culture
- Build from Scratch: As our first Safety Engineer, you will define the safety architecture from the ground up. You will build the foundation for our market approval.
- True Ownership & Impact: See your work come to life from day one. As a foundational hire, your work will directly shape our technology and our company.
- Elite, Hands on Team: Work in a fast paced, high performance environment alongside top robotics talent rooted in ETH Zurich research.
- No Red Tape: We are an ambitious, focused team driven by growth and excellence, not bureaucracy.
- Join our team: Based in Zurich (CH) or Esslingen am Neckar (DE). We value in person collaboration, most work is on site, with some hybrid flexibility. Full remote work is not possible.
